GLAMAZON Founder Kim Baker Becomes First Black Beauty Brand to Debut on ShopHQ network.

On June 30, 2022, GLAMAZON Beauty had history to became the first beauty brand owned by a woman of color to debut on the ShopHQ network. Kim supported the historic moment by conducting a live show where she demonstrated her brand on models of different skin types and tones. Before the show’s end, the brand’s mystical veil 2-in-1 moisturizing face primer sold out, and GLAMAZON Beauty was a massive success with ShopHQ network’s audience. 

GLAMAZON Beauty Founder and CEO Kim Baker knows firsthand about the invisible glass ceilings placed over women of color in every life area. Baker, a 30-year veteran of the beauty world continues to transcend her career. Baker developed GLAMAZON Beauty because she wanted a cosmetic makeup line that catered to women of color beautifully and authentically. The product line features an array of nourishing face, lip, and eye products — including hydrating lip gloss, vegan foundation, and concealer.

Baker knows what is feels like to be invisible. At the height of her successful modeling career, her then-boyfriend implicated her in a federal racketeering case. Facing a 65-years-to-life sentence, it took 18 months for Kim to clear her name and start a new life reinventing herself as one of the leading plus-size models. And soon transitioned into becoming a celebrity makeup artist. In 2006, she got her big break when Oscar-nominated actor Tom Cruise hired her for a “Mission Impossible” film. Since then, her client roster has included A-list celebrities such as Grammy award-winning songstress Toni Braxton and Golden Globe award-winning actress Angela Bassett. 

“I established the GLAMAZON Beauty brand out of my frustration of not being able to find products that match my skin tone and that felt weightless,” states Kim. “I wanted a skin-like finish to look and feel like myself but a little prettier.” 

As Baker expands her retail brand, she continues to honor her Afro-Latina heritage through her products and open doors for all women of color in the beauty world.
